PE Reflection

This semester, I did lots of anime shadowing, had conversations in Japanese, went to Japanese language table and prosody. I also went to office hours a couple of times. I wish I could have gone to office hours more and have more casual conversations. I think my speed has improved, and I can pronounce the /r/ sound better. Shibata Sensei's feedback on Speak Everywhere helped me with that. Since I'm going on PII, I will have many opportunities to practice my Japanese over the summer.

旅行の思い出？？？

今日は。
みなさんはどうですか。
今日、私は旅行の思い出を話します。
去年の夏、私は日本に行きました。私のおばさんの家に一種間泊まった。たくさんいいわ食を食べたり、古いお寺やじんじゃを見たりしました。そして、ふじ山を登りました。きりがふかかったので、ふじ山の上から何も見えませんでした。ざんねんでした。でも、ほかのしゃしんをとりました。

とてもかっこいいですね。私はそう思います。

春休み

春休み。
とても楽です。
私は家に帰りました。私の両親の料理をたくさん食べました。例えば、カツ丼やすしを食べました。そして、高校の友達と会ったので、バスケットボールをあそびました。みんなを見たがよかったです。でも、べんきょうがあるので、春休みはあまり楽じゃなかったです。
春休みはあまり楽じゃなかったです。
よくいそがしかったです。

Goals On Top of Goals

今日は。
みんなは元気ですか。
This is part 4 of Goals!!!

So far this semester, I've learned lots of more grammar for Japanese 102 (〜そう、plain speech, 〜ましょう、etc.) this semester and at a faster rate as compared to fall semester. It's more challenging, but it feels like we're finally learning "actual" Japanese that I'll use in conversations with Japanese people, so it motivates me to learn them. This semester, I've had Japanese conversations with my Japanese friends and shadowed lots of anime. I want to go to more Japanese tables for the rest of this semester, as well as watch more anime without reading the subtitles. That's it for now, keep it real y'all.

私のお父さんはよくしごとをするので、とてもしんこくの人ですが、ときどきおもしろいです。せが高くて、メガネをかけています。

Goals2k16!!!

今日は、２０１６。
Here are some goals for the new year, continuing from last year.
I still need to improve translating what I want to say from English to Japanese in my head. I believe talking more in Japanese (a.k.a going to language tables) and going to office hours will help in that case. For this year, I am going to go to more Japanese language tables than last semester (at least one language table every other week, or at least something more frequent than last year). I will also shadow more anime that I watch, and try to watch them without the English subtitles. I will also go to at least 1 office hour this semester.

Wintersession Break

今日は、みなさん。先週は私の中休みです。一週間で、とてもみじかかったです。休みの中にニューヨークにともだちといきました。かんこくのりょうりをたべて、とてもおいしかったです。そうして、こうりすべりをしました。中休みはとてもよかったです。

Goals!!! Part 3

あけましておめでとうございます！
New year, new me. I've accomplished the goals I set for myself earlier this year. I learned how to speak more words and in a grammatically correct way in Japanese, so I feel like I accomplished my first goal. It's still difficult to translate what I am thinking of saying from English to Japanese in my head, though. I can hold conversations in Japanese with other people. There are a couple of fluent Japanese speakers in my hall who I talk to a lot, so they have helped me with this goal immensely. I've watched anime and started to stop reading the English subtitles, plus I shadow the characters sometimes. I have only attended a couple of language tables this semester, so I feel like I need to attend more for next semester. I have found more Japanese songs to sing along to.
